Aiming to counter Donald Trump’s increasing influence in the cryptocurrency industry, Democrats have launched the “Crypto for Harris” campaign, as reported by FOX Business’ Eleanor Terrett. The initiative, spearheaded by a pro-Kamala Harris advocacy group, seeks to garner support from crypto voters for Vice President Harris as she competes for the presidency.

Coming up next week, “Crypto for Harris” will stage a virtual town hall featuring key crypto advocates like Mark Cuban and Anthony Scaramucci, in addition to several Democratic House members. The event is set to delve into support strategies for the Harris campaign and fundraising endeavors. The gathering is also expected to include members of Kamala Harris’ campaign, as per reports from FOX Business.
As the race for the presidency intensifies between Harris and Trump, the latter has garnered significant support within the Bitcoin and crypto community. Trump headlined the Bitcoin 2024 Conference in Nashville recently, raising substantial funds and proposing the establishment of a strategic Bitcoin reserve if elected in November. He has also mentioned the prospect of using Bitcoin to address the country’s $35 trillion debt.
With an estimated 50 million Bitcoin and cryptocurrency holders in the U.S., both Democrats and Republicans are now vying for their vote. Earlier this year, Donald Trump pledged support for crypto innovation and self-custody rights for the nation’s crypto holders.
“We’re not letting Trump dominate this issue,” stated Democrat U.S. Congressman Wiley Nickel to FOX Business. “We want to foster innovation and safeguard consumers, but turning crypto into a political battleground will only hinder the U.S.”
FOX Business has revealed that Harris, in response to Trump’s influence, has enlisted two crypto advisors for her campaign: David Plouffe, who advised Binance, and Gene Sperling, a former Ripple board member.
As of now, Kamala Harris’ campaign team has not responded to FOX Business’ requests for comment.
